Things are finally starting to happen again after that strange couple of weeks that seemed to go by so slow – perhaps it was all just a dream?

if you want to hear what I’ve been up to then listen out for the forthcoming release of one of the most insane records I’ve ever been involved in. It’s from “SCHISMS”:

edition of 200, riso LP’s.

Out on dutch Punk label BERGPOLDER. I should have some copies up on here (just as soon as we’ve paid our customs charges…!) Otherwise, look out for it at KNOTWIG records, DISCREET MUSIC, or get it direct from Bergpolder’s discogs page. It’s gnarley as hell and should probably come with a health warning.

Writing solo work continues at it’s slow pace. chip chip chipping away…some good things are emerging. Many more maudlin songs, sparse ones, synth beats, some piano compositions, and I’ve been learning to play cello and sing without too many effects, though not all at the same time.

I’ve got a few events lined up where I’ll be trying some new things out:

12th March
I’ll be doing a live stream, hosted by NARR radio in Leeds, and broadcast by them and by MUTANT Radio. Not sure of the set times yet, but keep an eye on my twitter feed if you’re that way inclined – and / or my instagram. for up to date info.

19th March
I’ll be playing at HUDDERSFIELD’s A.M.E space, which looks to be a really exciting evening. Glad to share the bill with extraordinary analogue synth specialist Sam Weaver. I think there will be lots of delicious indonesian food as well as a panel discussion about DIY culture.

9th April
I’ll be supporting a new duo – Bianca Scout and Elena Isolini – at the White Hotel in Salford, organised by Karl from Them There records, it should be a good one. Hoping to work in some synth and go down a lonely pine wood trail in twin peaks national park. Let’s see how it pans out.

Here’s hoping for some better times ahead.

In the meantime lets consider what it might take to

Love and thanks,

Marcia Bassett (Zaimph, Un, GHQ)  has created a sound collage using recordings of six female musicians reading spoken word responses on the theme of “Social Entropy”. It will be premiered as part of an installation at “Human Resources”, Los Angeles.

Thanks to Jay of ‘Dynamite Hemorrhage’ for taking the time to ask me some q’s about my musical background and life for his latest zine. He has an excellent line in grunge and garage rock podcasts and playlists. Well worth checking out his back catalogue.

Happy to share this film I made recently for a track called “Ephemeral and the Material” from Zaïmph’s album “Rhizomatic Gaze” out now on Drawing Room Records. The footage was shot on the yorkshire moors last Autumn:
